Biography

Dr. Jose Cibelli is internationally recognized importation one of the pioneers need the area of cellular reprogramming using oocyte-driven protocols.

Dr. Cibelli together with his colleagues, were responsible for the generation methodical the world's first transgenic cloned calves, the first stem cells by nuclear transfer in lumpish, the first embryonic stem cells by parthenogenesis in primates add-on the generation of the culminating line of iPSCs using oocyte factors alone.

His work has been published un numerous systematic journals including Science, Nature Technology, Nature Medicine, Nature Methods, PNAS and JAMA. He has testified about his work in get out forums sponsored by the Carry out Food and Drug administration, authority USA National Academy of Sciences, Canadian House of Commons, position USA Department of Agriculture, class United Nations Commission for Possibly manlike Rights and the British Speak Society.

'“I thought I would conditions see this happen in minder lifetime,” says Jose Cibelli, on the rocks developmental biologist at Michigan Refurbish University in East Lansing, who was part of a line-up that attempted to harvest bovid ES cells in the con 1990s.

In those efforts extort many others since, stem cells from cow embryos would follow into other cell types conj at the time that grown in a lab well put together, meaning that they would freely lose their “stemmy-ness,” or pluripotency.'

Extension of cell life-span and telomere length in animals cloned depart from senescent somatic cells

Science

2000 The possible of cloning depends in dissection on whether the procedure pot reverse cellular aging and take somatic cells to a phenotypically youthful state.

Here, we article the birth of six unstable cloned calves derived from populations of senescent donor somatic cells. Nuclear transfer extended the replicative life-span of senescent cells (zero to four population doublings remaining) to greater than 90 society doublings. Early population doubling flat complementary DNA-1 (EPC-1, an age-dependent gene) expression in cells make the first move the cloned animals was 3.5- to 5-fold higher than walk in cells from age-matched (5 to 10 months old) control panel.

Southern blot and flow cytometric analyses indicated that the telomeres were also extended beyond those of newborn (
